The Power of Understanding DISH: Small Changes, Big Differences

Understanding this concept of what DISH may be doing for us allowed small changes to make big differences when I applied it to myself.

Introduction

The thing about the Defensive Individual Shield Hypothesis (DISH) is that it is NOT a method as much as it is an idea or philosophy. Understanding this concept of what DISH may be doing for us allowed small changes to make big differences when I applied it to myself.

I know it sometimes hurts when hoping for something to finally work when struggling with health challenges.  But I want to give you hope anyway.

DISH Philosophy

I believe the coating on our skin is doing something for us that we are not aware of. I believe DISH has two jobs. Protect the body and sort what the body encounters.

My hypothesis is that when this coating on the skin is present, it gives the Good Guys in our body an escape route to avoid being grabbed up by the lymphatic system. When the body is unable to do this, I believe this is where autoimmune disease is born. Do the research. You will find how autoimmune disease (more specifically myalgia encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, ME/CFS) is sometimes brought on after an infection. Other times the body seems to be in a constant state of fighting this infection (inflammation). I believe this sorting going awry is why. I explain it completely step-by-step in my book Health Backwards: An Original Look from a Different Perspective.

But for now, how DISH works is not the point of my post. The point of my post is how simple the concept applied can make such big differences in my health. I believe this sorting process of DISH is accomplished automatically until something prevents it from being able to. For example, acute inflammation. The good news is that, for me, this DISH can be achieved manually as well.

It is simple…

but not easy.

DISH Knowledge Applied

The amazing thing about DISH is when I was SO FRUSTRATD from trying so many different things, once I figured out DISH in its entirety, it enabled those same methods to now start working for me.

So I don’t think it was about whether or not the “selected  method” worked. I think it is based more on our DISH working. Now do you see how it is more of an idea than a method. Keeping this DISH in mind, modern medicine worked better, and alternative medicine worked better. It didn’t matter what method I chose as long as I was aware of my DISH not working.

Making this manual DISH made all the difference in the world to me. I used to have a faulty pituitary gland. My doctor told me I had a life expectancy of 38-42. I was over 40 at the time of this news. This is what caused me to start my own research and find this DISH concept. If you would like to know more about the thought process of how I eventually discovered DISH, you’ll want to read my Interwoven Wisdom Books series.

This DISH concept can be applied into two modes: maintaining and improvement. Either mode required me to know what to do, when to do it and where to do it at. This is relatively straight forward when the philosophy behind the concept of DISH is applied.

Apply the concept reduced the loss of Good Guys the body needed to function properly. With more Good Guys, the easier it was for my body to do what it was meant to do.  Reflect for a minute if you will the countless number of health problems that are associated with inflammation or lack of enough Good Guys being present. If these two problems went away, how many health challenges would leave with them?

The most amazing part of this DISH philosophy is that prevention can be simple and powerful. When we are aware of times of chronic inflammation, we need to be mindful of ensuring this sorting continues to take place. Is this why there seems to be an uptick in the importance of the lymphatic system when it comes to our health? Do we know it is part of the answer, but don’t realize how big of a part it is playing in the answer when it is combined with the DISH philosophy?

Big Differences Using DISH

The role of the lymphatic system is to make Attackers to fight the Bad Guys in our bodies. The key to avoid getting an autoimmune disease, I think, is to make sure I’m protecting the Good Guys from being grabbed up into the lymphatic system. It is most important to do this during times of acute inflammation.

Something else I learned was it doesn’t have to be just about autoimmune diseases. It is, I believe, about anytime there is a period of acute inflammation.

By changing what is or isn’t in my surroundings (Altering Fields to Enable Recovery), I can allow the immune system to do what it was meant to do without anything else getting in its way. An example I would like to share with you is about a rescue kitten of mine. I wrote a little story about him to share with you what making a manual DISH could look like and what a difference it can make. It is a short read or a one hour listen. (Preview or buy the book, Whiskers of Hope: Paws, Possibilities, & DISH, to learn more.)

But here is your spoiler alert, the kitten makes it. Something I believe would not have happened if we didn’t start making the manual DISH for her. I believe the hardest part of making a manual DISH is knowing what pieces to use. But hopefully, time and learning more will make this easier for everyone.

Conclusion

I hope you see what I see in that the Defensive Individual Shield Hypothesis (DISH) could be the opportunity for a New Breakthrough that we have been hoping and waiting for to solve the ME/CFS mystery, as well as for so many other health problems.  I know it worked for me, my family, my kitten, and my friends cat. Logic would dictate it would work for others too, thus I share.
